Welcome to spring and the birth of new little babies of all sorts. Since York is full of ducks and geese of all imaginable kinds, I was delighted to see the little baby ones that started showing up at the end of April/beginning of May. We just don't have access to ducks and geese back in Utah and I've never been this close to these interesting animals before. They are so much fun and the little ones are adorable, as you can see--all fluffy.
Don't get too close, however, because mom and dad are really protective and they have these really long necks that can make it a simple matter for them to bite anyone in the vicinity. One of these geese charging along with an outstretched neck is a scary sight, let me tell you. Just think of the chunk they could take out of you! The picture below shows a little baby heading over to the pond nearby for a drink.
Below you can see a black swan surrounded with fluffy gray baby swans. These little guys are self sufficient and are so cute to watch as they look for things to eat. The University of York is a wild bird refuge and so there's lots to see in the way of winged creatures. I really like the black swans a lot. They are so pretty!
And of course, the baby lambs are precious and plentiful. This little chap was sitting on the lawn as we hiked by on our day at the Lake District. I couldn't resist him because of his cute little face.
